SUMMARY:Bringing the Past into the Present
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, April 24\, 2023 \nBringing the Past into the Present \nSusan F. Mollet\, M.F.A. \nAs artists\, we build on the history of our medium. Sometimes there is\na reverent homage to the past\, and other times the connection is a\n“stretch”. However\, we are constantly influenced by our current\nsurroundings juxtaposed to historical references. With reference to\nthe extensive ceramics collection at the MFAH \, I will discuss\na few currently producing ceramic artists who are infusing imagery of\nhistorical ceramics into a new direction based on their cultural\nbackgrounds. Do the past and the present merge or collide? See what\nyou think. \n  \n
